Hair is worn with a natural root resulting in this look being low maintenance. The foiliage style of colouring is soft and blended, which creates a natural lived in look. The mid-sections to ends are lightened, giving a graduated, dimensional colour. A face frame or money piece can be added for further dimension. A foiliage will always result in a neutral to cool blonde due to the products and techniques used.

The word foiliage was created to describe the use of foils as an evolution to the technique known as balayage. This allowed a neutral to cool result rather than the warmth of balayage. As the name suggests the colourists will apply the lightener in foil. The top of the mid-sections are typically teased using a backcomb technique known as teasylights, this creates a subtle barrier for the lightener to buffer against giving a seamless, effortless blend from the top of the mid-section to the natural root. Bleach is applied and covered in lengths of foil for a higher lift, resulting in neutral to cool blonde.

Included in both our foiliage and foiliage refresh services is the patented active ingredient of Olaplex which works on the hair internally to seek out and repair broken disulphide bonds caused by chemical damage. Chemical services are safeguarded when Olaplex is added to them. When visiting us for your foliage service we will use the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner in your service. All of the products in the Olaplex line are sulphite-free, paraben-free, phthalate free, colour-safe and vegan. We recommend continuing your Olaplex journey with products from our Olaplex shop.

Your colour will be styled to show your lived in look, using a choice of Aveda Olaplex and Davines styling products.

Your low maintenance colour will grow out effortlessly, however a visit within six months from your previous foiliage service at Melanie Giles is required to refresh the top of the mid-section and touch up an existing face frame or money piece. We recommend continuing your Olaplex journey using at home hair care with Olaplex shampoo, conditioner and treatments.
Your stylist will recommend a purple shampoo to keep your blonde tone clean between salon visits.
